Parenting Challenges: The time MBS just didn't want to say sorry

Recently, MBS has gotten herself a habit of throwing things she doesn't like or she thinks to be ugly. Take one particular book for instance. She didn't like it; thus, she threw it on the floor. MH saw this and scolded her. MH: Pick up the book. We told you before that you should not throw things. Please pick it up. MBS: No. This took around 3 minutes or so. I went to MBS and asked her to please pick up the book, give the book to her dad, and say sorry. After much prodding, she followed step #1. She picked up the book. That was it. I asked her to please give the book to her dad and say sorry. She threw the book to her dad. Threw.the.book.My temper flared up. There was crying and shouting involved now. I told her to give the book to her dad with both hands. MBS did not like the idea. Me: Give the book to Daddy, using both hands. MBS gets the book and reluctantly gives it to MH with one hand. Me: Both hands. MBS looks at me and nods her head, still extending on...

What a Journey "1" has been...

A list of things that MBS can do Just a few days before she turns 2  A list of memories that I will cherish forever And an unconditional love that is beyond measure. MBS never fails to amaze me with what she can do at her age. There are tons of moments I forget that she's a little girl and just about to turn 2.  We can hold conversations with her already. And her being able to understand us and respond in complete sentences, at her age, is something I am really proud of. The best part is that MBS is able to help us with mini-chores around the house.  "Please put this in the hamper." and "Please throw this in the trash can." are regulars for her and she repeats these sentences to us at times. MBS walked in on me while I was inflating her floaters/beach ball for swimming. "Mommy, Haley naman." I gave her the inflator and left the room to get something. When I entered the room again, "Mommy, wait for (a) minute." ...

MBS on CAPS LOCK magic

MBS recently discovered that the Caps lock key lights up when pressed. And she decided to surprise her dad with her new-found knowledge. While my husband (MH) was sitting down with his laptop on the table in front of him. "Daddy, sit lap." MH carries MBS onto his lap. "Daddy, close eyes." Upon confirming that MH had his eyes closed, MBS presses the Caps Lock key on the laptop. "Daddy, ta-da! Magic!" is said with a huge grin on MBS's face while pointing to the lit up Caps Lock key. Cuteness overload! :)
