Baguio City 2017 - Day 3

DAY 3

Here's a glimpse (with pictures) of what the inside of our rented house at St. Patrick looks like. The house can be rented for Php 18,000 a night. It was pricey for our small group, but would have been worth it for a bigger group.

St. Patrick Village was nice enough to hold my downpayment for 1 year. We were supposed to go last year, but we had a family emergency.
I was really charmed by this place (as opposed to others) because of its attic - tents and a children's play area. The tents, however, were taken out early this year and have been replaced with real beds.

Attic!!!
Play area - There are even bean bags and extra mattresses.

Bed at the attic. The 2 doors to the upper left of the picture are Room # 5 and another CR (wasn't able to take a picture of the inside).

The village itself is small, with around (I think) 14 houses in total. Among those houses, only a few of them are available for rent as the others are privately owned.

Deal Grocer usually has promos for the house rental as well. And the receptionist mentioned that one of the houses in the village was being rented out via Airbnb.

We all know what the little monkey will miss the most.

We had two places in our itinerary for our last day at the City of Pines - Burnham Park and Dinosaur Island.

Burnham Park was a good place for activities. The four of us (parents+2kids) were able to ride in a buggy cart for about Php 50 an hour.

MH and I took our places in the back as the pedals where there.

They sold balloons along the bike oval. The little monkey kept shouting "Ba-woo!!"

Later on, MBS tried riding by herself.

After that, we headed for the boats. MBS initially wanted to ride the swan, which was a pedal boat. But, later on, changed her mind and wanted to row. We rented a rowboat good for 4 people at about Php 150 and hour. I think we went for more than an hour, though, as we were figuring out how to get the boat to go in a certain direction.

My brother-in-law's family rode first as MBS initially wanted to ride the pedal boat.

Fun at the park

Burnham Park was near SM Baguio, so we had our lunch at the mall's Teriyaki Boy.

Afterwards, we headed out of Baguio and onto Dinosaur Island which was in Tuba, Benguet. (They have another branch in Clark, Pampanga.)

As MBS had just read a storybook with dinosaur characters, this place piqued her interest. And I have to admit, it was a pretty cool place too!

Entrance fee to Dinosaur Island is Php 350/head for adults and Php 300/head for kids. Their opening hours is from 9:00am-6:00pm. We got there around 1:00pm.

Dinosaur Island in Baguio was a bit of a trek with 100+ steps to reach the top, where the tour began. They have a collection of dinosaurs - animatronics and sculptures. MBS quickly realized and mentioned to us that when the display was made of rubber, it would move.

Just as we stepped off Dinosaur Island, we made our way back to Manila. :)

Baguio City 2017 - Day 2

DAY 2 To start off the day, the little monkey woke up early to run around the grounds of St. Patrick Village. He had just finished his oatmeal breakfast, which I was able to cook at the comfort of the house we rented.  This is the house we stayed in. Pathway leading to the exit A modern day Romeo and Juliet scene with the aunt Just as we were headed up to get ready for another exciting day, the little monkey's ears perked up when he heard a "Ta-hooooo!!!!" entering the village grounds. And boy, was I excited to find out that they offered another unique flavor - ube taho! What a way to start the day! :)  Kuya Willie arrived a few minutes past 9am, and off we went to Baguio Botanical Garden. *Baguio Van Rentals provided their drivers with their own lodging, so Kuya Willie didn't stay with us (even though there was more than enough room; they have a driver's quarters just beside the garage).  Family picture! NAIA 2 and its Infant Feeding Station

A few weeks ago, I had to travel to Canada without MBS.  With the long haul flight and being outside my own comfort zone, I realized I was going to have a hard time with pumping and breast milk handling. Thoughts of where I was going to pump, how I was going to pump (in public areas) worried me.  So, I'd have to say that I was immensely happy when I saw the Infant Feeding Station at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2. The station is located at the left end of the waiting area after you pass the carry-on luggage X-ray and metal detector.  The sign of the station was a bit hard (for me) to see because firstly, I have blurry vision and secondly, the sign was way smaller than the MASSAGE sign beside it.  But the station was truly a welcome sight, esp. since it's air-conditioned inside. I got a chance to beat the warm temperature in the waiting area for a while. :) Hopefully someday, all airports will soon be equipped with their o...
