MBS Travel: Amorita Resort, Bohol

Planning our family getaway for Christmas 2014, I googled the words "Family friendly resort Manila" and out came a list from Working Mom. I chose the one resort which I felt wouldn't be too much crowded during the holidays - Amorita Resort, Panglao, Bohol

Incidentally, my batch mate was the head chef of the resort so I was able to confirm if Amorita was indeed as kid friendly as the article let out.

Result: My stay at the resort had not only made me more than happy with my decision, it also made me look forward to planning my next getaway there.

MBS ready to go

We reached Tagbilaran via Cebu Pacific on December 22, and was greeted with a guy holding a wooden Amorita sign. We were then offered umbrellas since it was drizzling, and a bottle of water for each one of us. The porter and the driver were both very polite and assisted us until we reached the van.

We were greeted with welcome drinks, but was then informed that we were going to be temporarily moved to another room until late afternoon since the resort was experiencing a power shortage in the wing where our room was. This had me a bit bummed; but the staff was really courteous and was able to offer the Sky Suite to us for the meantime.

We started our afternoon with lunch at Buzz Cafe (located along the beach) and a walk on the beach after. It was MBS's first trip to the beach so she was a bit wary of the sand. It took her some time, and some prodding from us before she loosened up a bit. Good thing she was able to feel the ocean at the shore line before the day ended.

It was a different story when we got to one of Amorita's swimming pool. MBS was in heaven! She was also thrilled when she saw a lot of 6-8 year old looking kids who were playing in the pool as well. Needless to say, we had a mommy-daughter scream fest when it was time to go back to the room.

All smiles! :)

By the time we finished swimming, the room we reserved was ready to be occupied.
Their 2 bedroom suite was AMAZING. It fits 6 adults and 2 kids perfectly. What made this stay VERY, VERY MEMORABLE was the fact that the resort went out of their way to put a play pen and a wooden baby cot in our suite for the 2 kids. They even put a Cradle refill pack, a baby bottle sterilizer, and a kid bath tub complete with a tabo and insect repellent sachets.

As a mom, the people who made the suite infant/toddler-friendly were heaven sent.

Since my batch mate, Chef Raphael Ongchiong, was the head chef of Saffron (the restaurant of the resort), I noted to myself that I would have dinner there on our first night stay. Undoubtedly, the food was delicious. The portion of the marlin we ordered was a bit small though, but delicious nonetheless.

We were able to talk to Chef Paeng a few minutes after his kitchen closed. He filled us in about the resort renovations - opening a newer wing for deluxe rooms and planning to have the old wing renovated, planning a Gymboree-like playroom for kids, and an outdoor playground. Amorita seems really driven to make their resort a very, very family friendly one.

With Chef Paeng

As for Saffron, the restaurant just moved from the old wing and into its new location December 2014. Chef Paeng is looking into offering a grill buffet on the 3rd floor and a private function room fit for around 40 and a bar on the 2nd floor. Both floors are currently under construction. But the 3rd floor's view of the stars is simply amazing!
It was honestly awe-inspiring for me to see my batch mate very, very successful in his field. And enjoying it at that! :)

As if the arrangement of our suite was not enough, we came back from dinner to two notes on our living room table - one for MBS and one for Baby G - together with two boxes of Koala cookies and two small cartons of milk in the fridge. :)

A sweet gesture to the kiddos

Milk for the kiddos, softdrinks for the moms, and beer for the dads :)

Now, how can I not love Amorita? :)

Baguio City 2017 - Day 3

DAY 3 Here's a glimpse (with pictures) of what the inside of our rented house at St. Patrick looks like. The house can be rented for Php 18,000 a night. It was pricey for our small group, but would have been worth it for a bigger group.  Room# 1 at Lower Ground CR inside Room # 1 Stairs going to the main floor Living room (Main door is on the right) Dining room just across the living room Kitchen (Pots and pans, knives, chopping board, plates, utensils, rice cooker, water dispenser with 5 Gal water, water kettle are all provided.) Room # 2 at Main floor CR just outside Room # 2 Stairs leading to 2nd Floor Room# 3: Master's Bedroom (there's a CR inside) Room # 4 across the Master's Bedroom (CR located beside the room) Stairs going to Attic St. Patrick Village was nice enough to hold my downpayment for 1 year. We were supposed to go last year, but we had a family emergency.  I was really charmed by this place (...

NAIA 2 and its Infant Feeding Station

A few weeks ago, I had to travel to Canada without MBS.  With the long haul flight and being outside my own comfort zone, I realized I was going to have a hard time with pumping and breast milk handling. Thoughts of where I was going to pump, how I was going to pump (in public areas) worried me.  So, I'd have to say that I was immensely happy when I saw the Infant Feeding Station at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2. The station is located at the left end of the waiting area after you pass the carry-on luggage X-ray and metal detector.  The sign of the station was a bit hard (for me) to see because firstly, I have blurry vision and secondly, the sign was way smaller than the MASSAGE sign beside it.  But the station was truly a welcome sight, esp. since it's air-conditioned inside. I got a chance to beat the warm temperature in the waiting area for a while. :) Hopefully someday, all airports will soon be equipped with their o...

Hong Kong Disneyland (June 2018)

Since MBS kept true to her goal of getting a gold merit award on the 4th grading of her K1 journey (Yay!), I had to keep my word of granting her wish - a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. We arrived at HKIA around 5:30pm and had our dinner first before heading to the happiest place in the world. I loved that they cut the noodles for the kids so they won't have a hard time eating! MBS LM After filling our tummies, we headed off to the taxi area. HK taxis are set into three categories or colors, depending on the area: red for urban/city areas, blue for Lantau island, and green for New Territories. All three colors can bring us HK Disneyland. However, the red one is a bit more expensive than the green and blue ones. We took the green taxi. The ride to the Disneyland Explorer's Lodge cost us 147 HKD. Finally, we checked into HK Disneyland's Explorer Lodge! Hong Kong Disneyland offers three hotel choices: Disneyland Hotel, Hollywood Hotel, a...
