MBS Travel: HK - Day 1

MBS was such an angel on her first airplane ride abroad. :) I could not have wished for a better experience!

She fell asleep during take off and didn't wake up until the pilot announced that we were landing in a few minutes. Such an angel, really.

Preparing for the trip - what to bring, where to go, how to go from point A to point B with MBS in tow - was a whole different ball game.

While packing, MBS just didn't seem to have enough clothes, even if one side of my hard cased luggage was already filled with her clothes. One outfit a day never seemed enough. What if she got wet? What if she threw up? What if she soiled herself?

I would say that I packed around 20 outfits for MBS for our 5 day trip, excluding her outfit on the day itself and three more just-in-case outfits to be packed in her carry on. When MH saw what I had been doing, he talked some sense into me and asked me to pack lightly. We were going to HK, not the North Pole.

And so, I repacked. And ended up with still one side of my hard cased luggage, but at least it wasn't filled to the rim.

We were early enough to spend some time and eat breakfast at the Miascor lounge at NAIA1.
Thank you, Amex and Citibank.

MBS on her first airplane ride.
She didn't have a seat on the plane, so she had to sit on my lap. :)
A seatbelt for infants was given to me when we got on the plane.
Touchdown at HKIA

MBS munching on a biscuit as we took turns going to the restroom :)
Now, we had to look for a taxi and get on our way. It's a good thing MH's aunt came to fetch us; she called a taxi for us as well. Apparently, you get a discounted rate when you call/order a taxi as opposed to just grabbing one on the street.

We had a really quick snack at HKIA's Crystal Jade as we waited for the taxi to arrive, which was less than 10 minutes. I was quite amazed by how efficient their taxi system is.

MBS got to finally meet her grand aunts and uncles in the evening. It was a very, very heartwarming sight - seeing how happy all the grand aunts and uncles were when they saw MBS. Everyone rushed to carry and play with her. The last time they saw MBS was when they visited Manila when MBS was just a month old. There was so much love. Such a happy day. :)

Baguio City 2017 - Day 3

DAY 3 Here's a glimpse (with pictures) of what the inside of our rented house at St. Patrick looks like. The house can be rented for Php 18,000 a night. It was pricey for our small group, but would have been worth it for a bigger group.  Room# 1 at Lower Ground CR inside Room # 1 Stairs going to the main floor Living room (Main door is on the right) Dining room just across the living room Kitchen (Pots and pans, knives, chopping board, plates, utensils, rice cooker, water dispenser with 5 Gal water, water kettle are all provided.) Room # 2 at Main floor CR just outside Room # 2 Stairs leading to 2nd Floor Room# 3: Master's Bedroom (there's a CR inside) Room # 4 across the Master's Bedroom (CR located beside the room) Stairs going to Attic St. Patrick Village was nice enough to hold my downpayment for 1 year. We were supposed to go last year, but we had a family emergency.  I was really charmed by this place (...

NAIA 2 and its Infant Feeding Station

A few weeks ago, I had to travel to Canada without MBS.  With the long haul flight and being outside my own comfort zone, I realized I was going to have a hard time with pumping and breast milk handling. Thoughts of where I was going to pump, how I was going to pump (in public areas) worried me.  So, I'd have to say that I was immensely happy when I saw the Infant Feeding Station at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2. The station is located at the left end of the waiting area after you pass the carry-on luggage X-ray and metal detector.  The sign of the station was a bit hard (for me) to see because firstly, I have blurry vision and secondly, the sign was way smaller than the MASSAGE sign beside it.  But the station was truly a welcome sight, esp. since it's air-conditioned inside. I got a chance to beat the warm temperature in the waiting area for a while. :) Hopefully someday, all airports will soon be equipped with their o...

Hong Kong Disneyland (June 2018)

Since MBS kept true to her goal of getting a gold merit award on the 4th grading of her K1 journey (Yay!), I had to keep my word of granting her wish - a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. We arrived at HKIA around 5:30pm and had our dinner first before heading to the happiest place in the world. I loved that they cut the noodles for the kids so they won't have a hard time eating! MBS LM After filling our tummies, we headed off to the taxi area. HK taxis are set into three categories or colors, depending on the area: red for urban/city areas, blue for Lantau island, and green for New Territories. All three colors can bring us HK Disneyland. However, the red one is a bit more expensive than the green and blue ones. We took the green taxi. The ride to the Disneyland Explorer's Lodge cost us 147 HKD. Finally, we checked into HK Disneyland's Explorer Lodge! Hong Kong Disneyland offers three hotel choices: Disneyland Hotel, Hollywood Hotel, a...
